club update

Hiya Gang, hope you're all okay and wasn't affected to much by the recent horrendous weather, as many of you will know the last few months we've had some fantastic Singers and Musicians come to the club and this Friday will be no exception! Our guest is a well known friend and supporter at the club, the brilliant Mike Bowden. Mike is a well known singer/songwriter from North Manchester, his style of music is more Blues based than Folk, but excellent and not to be missed as it's always a good night! Club starts 20:30, hope to see you there, luv L xx

club review

Hiya gang, yet another brilliant Singer's night it was not so much quantity but the quality, Ian summed up the night on his facebook post: "Just a quick note on last night. It's gotta be short cos there's only one way to describe it. Fantastic never seen so much talent assembled on a club night for as long as I can remember. Twas like the good old days and here's to many more like this, although last night will take some following. You may ask why haven't I named names well it's because everyone who was there was so good no one could have failed to enjoy the variety on offer."

I'll try my best Ian, lol! The names Ian didn't mention were: Jack McCully and his son Gordon (Not a Duo), Steve Woolley and Stuart Thompson, a new musician to our club but well known within the Folk scene "Banjo" John Brown and his lovely wife Connie who promises to bring her guitar with her next time to duet with John, so that's something well worth looking forward to. Our next Club night is 1st of November when our Guest is renown Folk and Blues singer/songwriter, the excellent Mike Bowden, please note, as it is a Guest night time does not allow for many floor spots so please contact me if you want to be a floor singer. Club starts at 20:30 hope to see you there, luv L xx

clb review

Hiya gang, well I did tell you to expect a good night . . . it was a fantastic night! Bo Weavil was the guest and they didn't disappoint, it's not often we can afford a band, they were worth every penny and more! Bo Weavil normally a 5 piece - Dave Layton (Drums), Dom Dunill (Fiddle), Mark Ross (Guitar), Tommy 'Musical' Rushton (Bass) and Lee Webster (Banjo & Dobro) but Lee was unable to make it. The Band write a lot of their own arrangements or take songs and add their unique style to them, most are 50's 60's Blues Folk and Bluegrass, not only are they musically excellent, their harmonies are second to none, truly fantastic! Even "Eagles Style" it's a band you should look out for to see or book! Their next gig is the 26th of October at The Diggle Band Club in Saddleworth and the 17th of November at The Hare & Hound in Todmorden, you won't be disappointed! For history and information of Bo Weavil, how they formed and more go to Bo Weavil

I'd like to thank the floor singers who also played for us, Ian 'Sproggy' Sproson Happy Birthday for Wednesday the 9th of October, Jack McCully, Steven Ireland, Steve Woolley, Stuart Thompson, Joanna, Little David, Keith and the gang from Bacup Folk Club. All excellent in their own right, luv L xx

club update

Hiya gang, hope you're all well, this week is a club week and also a Guest night and what a Guest we have or should I say 'Guests'. The Guests this week is the exceptional Bo Weavil, who are a band of five young Musicians who play: Fiddle, Banjo, Dobro, Guitar, Bass and Drums. They've not played much in Manchester area, only the outskirts, they're a lively foot tapping group and well worth seeing. There will not be many floor spots so you need to contact me prior to avoid missing out, look forward to seeing you Friday, luv L xx
