Club update

Hiya everyone, sorry for late update but apart from  losing my voice over two weeks ago I must have picked up the worse virus I've ever known!! it's only today I've started to pick up. Well the club will be closed now until January 6th 2012 which will be a singers and musicians night everyone is welcome. Thank you to Ian Sproson and Kevin and Carolanne Roddy for their continued help  running the club plus the members that support it. It was  nice to end the year on such an excellent night  plus a big hello to Gren and Julia on their first visit we'll be seeing more of them in the new year. As there won't be any update blogs until the club reopens you are more than welcome to join us on facebook to keep up with all the gossip go to New Cleveland folk club unplugged  and as  to join. Friday night update

A huge thank you to our guest last Friday, the brilliant Garron Frith for such an entertaining night, unfortunately we had to close earlier than normal as landlady had forgotten to put the heating on as they'd had a funeral party of a regular going on in the pub all day but we found an odd kind of humour in that it had turned into a 'funeral karaoke'!!! only at a Joseph Holt's  pub would that work! Anyway Garron has agreed to come back on our First birthday party which if you don't already know is 17th February 2012 anyone wishing to perform on the night really needs to let me know asap. Hope to see you at next club night on 9th December as this will be the last club night for 2011 any party ideas welcome lv Lxx

Hiya gang, well what an absolutely brilliant night, a big thank you to our guest Vinny  T Spencer who didn't disappoint. Radical? from love songs, Irish folk, Lancashire folk he sang the lot , he really was excellent, plus a big thank you to Emma Runswich who sang  a couple of songs with Vinny. Vinny and Emma are also in a trio 'Our Morals' who will be appearing at Studio 2 in Liverpool checkout www.radical liverpool.com for more details We did miss our Ian Sproson & Korky who had a prior engagement look forward to having him & new guide dog Korky back at the club on 11th November thank you to everyone for their continued support see you all soon lv Lxx

Hiya gang, hope you are all well. just a short reminder that this Friday 28th Oct is a guest night, our guest is Vinny T Spencer. Vinny is an excellent singer songwriter from Liverpool he comes highly recommended from Alun Parry, who went down a storm when he was a guest recently. Vinny is often refered to as a radical songwriter I don't thik so, he's a  brillient musician & a really nice person. Hiya gang, just a quick not to remind you this Friday (14th Oct) is a singers and musicians night ,floor singers are always welcome, Poor Sproggy is having a rotten time whilst training with new guide dog Korky who we will meet when he's ironed out all Ian's bad habits acquired with Johnny, now retied apart from treats and toys he can now play with we got him a gold disc with 'Johnny' on one side and 'New Cleveland folk dog' on the other, so people will know Johnny wasn't just a guide dog!! Hiya gang, hope everyone is well, this Friday 30th September is a guest night, our guest is Roydan Styles. Roydan has quite a following in the music scene, his music is more folk rock/pop, one of his claims to fame was a appearance on Tiswas when he was young playing a ukulele. If his appearance on North Manchester FM is anything to go by then he's certainly well worth seeing .Floor singers are always welcome, hope to see you there lv Lxx

Thank you for your comment, however it did make me aware that not everyone goes on Facebook, so would be unaware that I was unwell on Friday and was unable to run the club. So a big thank you to Ian Sproson & Kevin Roddy for doing the honours, from all accounts a good time was had by all, as Ian had posted a review of the night on Facebook this page wasn't updated so my sincere apologies to those who stay updated through the blogspot. There has also been a 'blog stat monitor' added to the page which tells you how many people have visited the page for information, I was quite pleased to discover there had been 881 hits since I started it in February, unfortunately my updates and comments don't count shame lol! Let see if we can get to 1,000 by the first birthday that would be good, which ironically is Friday February 17th! As we changed from Thursday nights to Fridays ha! Hiya gang, thank you to everyone for such a great end of season night last Friday (22nd July), it's the people that make it a great club and we have some excellent guests lined up for next season (see club listing) . We reopen on August 19th with a singers and musicians night, new talent and floor singers are always welcome. The first guest night is on 2nd September with the superb Anthony John Clarke, and support from Joe Zeph Roberts and an up and coming duo Sandra Martin and Phil Robinson, so I'll look forward to seeing you there after my holidays, I'll be the one that's red as a lobster as I don't tan when I go in the sun!!  lol  Lxx. On a more sombre note, flowers and a Mass card was sent on behalf of the club to Kevin and Carolanne following there recent bereavement, our thoughts and prayers are with them xx

Club update

Hiya gang , well wot a night last night, Thank you to the fantastic Mike Bowden for such a brilliant nights entertainment. It was nice to see a few old faces, but also a lot of new faces too, thank you too to the superb and unique form of humour from Stanley Accrington and the much talented Simon Rusty well done I'd say he's one to look out for in future see you at the club again soon take care all, lv Lorna 8- ) xx

Time changes

Hiya folks hope all well, I been asked by members to change the time the club starts. As the bar is open until 11.30 it has been agreed to have the club start at 8.30 , so no one will miss out on  drinking time .!!!
Regarding comments anyone can leave a comment  about things you want from the club, but you can  also keep up with what going on at the club via  facebook, if you enter the new Cleveland Folk club unplugged and ask to join, that way you can also interact with other club members.  Hope this is of some help to you all.  Lv  Lorna    8- ) xx

Just to let you know the folk club is no on a Friday night so the next club nght is Friday 4th March which is a singers night , then on 18th March is a guest night BeelzeBob I understand  from Bob Ashworth it's going to be an 'interesting performance' hope to see you there .

Hiya gang , I hope everyone is well and preparing vocal chords for next week!! In the words of Ian Sproson  "who'd a thowt it" !!  25  years down the road and here we are 'the New Cleveland Folk Club' opens it's doors. I hope everyone is as excited as I am, we've got some cracking guests lined up for your entertainment, on the relaunch night there's the fantastic singer/songwriter Claire Mooney. Claire has been a long standing champion of  live music and always supported the Cleveland folk club we also have the superb and unique talents of  local singer/songwriter  Damien Maddison, Damien was a young man when he first came to the Cleveland folk club, we were lucky to hear most if not all his work before he went on to build quite a successful career which has taken him all around the world., so the New Cleveland folk club is the place to be. Future guests are Bob Ahsworth complete with new new never performed works and the extremely talented Alun Parry I look forward to seeing you next Thursday luv Lorna

To comment on the blog click the mouse on the comments link, just to the right of the date and time. Then you simply type in your message, once finished click on the drop down list which reads as 'Select Profile' next to the 'Comment as'. If you have a 'Google Account', 'LiveJournal', ect. log in, if not click 'Anonymous' or 'Name/URL'. I know it sounds a bit gobbledegook, I'm having to learn how to do things too. Re-launch

Preparations have been set into motion for the official re-launch of the New Cleveland Folk Club, flyer's have been designed and the logo has been designed by Jan. Kevin shall be taking care of the financing details and the club has been booked on a fortnightly basis. Keep you updated : - )
