It was a quiet night on Friday with an audience of only one. Things were looking a bit bleak until the music started.
Terry Kliszcz and Ray Greenwood who used to perform as THE JANGLE BAND
started the evening with a great set of tunes and songs. It suddenly
didn`t matter about the tiny audience. I knew I was going to enjoy the
rest of the night. We next had a few songs from Ian Sproson the club
resident singer. He was followed by me the club resident advert for
Holts bitter. After all the traditional
stuff Peter Crossley did a few songs in a more contemporary style
maintaining the healthy mixture of styles that is normal in the club.
After a short interval we did it all again. It was more like a cosy little private party than a folk club.
Terry, Ray and Peter were all strangers to me and I am glad they turned
up. Without them it would only have been Ian and I serenading one
another.
This all happened at The New Cleveland Folk Club Unplugged. Do all you absentees remember where it is?
Sorry. couldn`t resist that last bit.
Hi Jack thankyou for your review unfortunately that's something we can't change a such when it's a singers night you don't know who is going to walk through the door as you know we've had some really big singers nights I'm sure other clubs have same problem I know of one club who has great singers nights but when they book a guest attendance is poor so you can't win really we just take the good with the not so good next club night is 24th April which is a guest night our guest is the fantastic John Watterson as. Fake Thackeray that will be an absolutely excellent night thanks again Jack see you soon luv Lxx
