Hi, I`m going to start this review a little bit differently by getting something off my chest. The Cleveland is an ideal venue for a folk club. It has a room where the noise from downstairs is unable to penetrate, it serves real ale in excellent condition at very reasonable prices and is in an easily accessible area. So why on a guest night were there only ten people in the room? That figure includes Lorna, the club guest Kevin Seisay and kevin and carolann Roddy who assist Lorna on club nights. If you were not there on Friday here is a message for you. GET YER BACKSIDE DOWN TO THE CLEVELAND ON A FRIDAY AND GIVE LORNA THE SUPPORT SHE DESERVES.
OK I managed to say that without using language that would be inappropriate. The evening started with resident singer Ian Sproson doing one of his black country songs and continued with Jonny Rep followed by my contribution to the evening. We then had a welcome visit from Bo weevil fiddler Dom Dudill who played a selection of tunes for us. The first half was brought to a conclusion by our excellent guest Kevin Seisay. Kevins` style reminded me of my other love in music, trad jazz.
In the second half Jonny Rep was accompanied by Dom to make a sort of Bo weevil minus four plus one. Can you get you head round that? After all the floor singers had done their second spot, a very enjoyable evening was rounded off by guest Kevin Seisay. If you were there, thanks for coming.
